Stay & Play |
Our Stay and Play program is offered to parents and their children. Feel free to drop in for a few minutes or stay for the whole morning. Enjoy meeting new people and visiting with other parents while the children play. Join in a rhyme circle and receive copies of Growing Child, Growing Parent, and Grandma Says (Handed out at the beginning of each month). Free snack provided. |

Community Kitchen |
Everyone is invited to attend this free nutrition program. The Community Kitchen program runs the first Tuesday of every month from at the United Church in Altona. Come join us, cook and sit down to eat an economical well balanced meal. We have free childcare and fun activities planned for the parents and children. Registration is required as there is only 12 spaces available |

Growing with Mom |
Are you expecting? Do you have a baby under one year? Growing with Mom welcomes you the first Thursday of each month from 2:00pm - 3:30pm or 7:00pm - 8:30pm at the Family Resource Centre. Get together with other women, learn about your pregnancy and your baby, and talk about things that are important to you. Free snack and childcare are provided. Milk coupons available. |

Preschool Fair |
Interactive hands on activities for parents and children to enjoy together. Please bring your Teddy Bear! The 2008 Fair is for parents and their children born in 2003 or 2004. Be prepared to spend 1 1/2 to 2 hours playing and learning with your child. There is no child care available so please make other arrangements for other children. This is a come and go event taking place at the Elmwood Elementary School from 1:00pm until 7:30pm. |

Kit & Kaboodle |
Kit and Kaboodle is a family literacy and language program. Each session includes a circle time for rhymes and songs, a sound game, a group story and parent/child book sharing time. |

Fun with Books |
Volunteers come to the centre to read to the children and parents. The story, snack and reading following the theme of the book for that month. Some themes used in the past are picnic fun, puppets, and bugs. |

Toy Lending Library |
Have you ever wanted to try out a toy before you purchased it? Have you purchased a toy that you thought your child would love only to find it a week later collecting dust? You can borrow toys for FREE from the Toy Lending Library at the Resource Centre for up to two weeks at a time. No more cluttered toy boxes. Stop by the Resource Centre during office hours to check out our toy catalogue. Everyone Welcome! All our toys are cleaned and sanitized upon return following the Health and Safety guidelines. |

Junior Gym Nights |
Parents with children ages 3-5 are invited to join us for Gym Night. Parent participation is required. Come play with your child and win prizes. Please bring grippy slippers or indoor shoes. This program is being offered in Altona, Gretna and Rosenfeld. For dates it is being run in your community, please see the Events page. Registration is required so please call the Centre. |

Play to Learn, Learn to Play |
Play to Learn, Learn to Play is a parent-child learning program which focuses on the value of play for children and their parents. Learn through group discussions, playtime, brainstorming, observation and much more. |

Mothers and Daughters in Touch |
This program gives opportunity for mothers and daughters to spend time together, learn and have fun! This 8 week series, about relationship and skill building works towards expanding the mother's capacity as both mentor and resource person for her daughter. Mothers and Daughters is about preserving and strengthening the relationship that is already well established - it is not meant to be therapy or counselling. Space is limited to 10 mother/daughter pairs (Girls in Grades 4-6). Call the Centre to reserve your FREE spot. |

Alphabet Soup |
Alphabet soup is a program for parents and their children ages 2-5. Parents and children can enjoy time together singing songs, learning finger plays, reading books and making a nutritious snack. There is time for parents to make games for their children while children play and do crafts with childminders. |

Rock & Read |
Rock & Read is a literacy program which has been offered in Altona, Gretna and Rosenfeld (see Events for schedule). This program starts out with a parent/child rhyme circle followed by a nutritious snack. Following the circle and snack, the children will have some playtime with caregivers while the parents make a book for their children. |

Shake, Rattle & Roll |
This is a parent/child physical activity program encouraging early movement and co-ordination using songs, a variety of equipment such as beanbags, balls etc. This program is for children ages 2-4 years old. Childcare is available for siblings. |

Positive Parenting |
Come and experience the insight and wisdom of Barbara Coloroso. The program will consist of watching a video clip and sharing its contents and impact with the group. There will also be time to talk about specific issues and concerns. |

Raising Resilient Families |
In four evening sessions (April 16, 23, 30 & May 7 - 7pm -8:30pm) this group will explore parenting that encourages respect, courage, optimism and growth. Participants will learn how to help their children: 1) Take on life's challenges with energy & strength; 2) accept themselves; 3) develop self-esteem; 4) cope with change or disappointments in a positive manner. Parents will explore how to be the positive adult in their children's lives. Will take place at the Borderland School Division Offices. Childcare will be available. |

Community Bridges |
Connecting you to your new home. This support group focuses on adjusting to Canadian living. Informal discussions take place and cover the topics of health care, the school system, meeting new people, stresses that occur when adjusting to a new country and culture. Come join us from 1 to 2 pm at the Altona & Area Family Resource Centre. |

Mood Disorder Support Group |
The purpose of this group is to offer support and encouragement to those families living with members who have a mood disorder. There will not be any meetings held during the summer but this support group will continue meeting in September. |

Healing Hearts Support Group |
Healing Hearts is a support group for people who have experienced a pregnancy loss such as a miscarriage, ectopic, stillborn or neonatal. Healing Hearts purpose is to offer support and understanding to those experience grief in response to their loss. If you would like to meet with someone please call Jodi at 324-1806. |

Behavior Disorder Support Group |
The purpose of this group is to offer support and encouragement to those families living with children with a Behavior Disorder. THere will be not meetings in May, June, July and August 2008. This group will continue to meet in September. |
